What is sacred/ holy (ὅσιος) ?

Socr: Tell me then, what do you say sacred/ piety/ holy (ὅσιος) is, and what profane/ impiety/ unholy (ἀνόσιος)? 

Kerro siis mitä hurskaus ja profaani sinun mielestäsi on? 

Euth: Then what is dear (προσφιλής) to the gods is holy (ὅσιος), and what is not dear to them is to them is unholy (ἀνόσιος) 

 

The disagreement on just and unjust, beautiful and ugly, good and bad

Socr. Now, Euthyphro, we also said, did we not, that the gods  quarrel (στασιάζω) and disagree with one another and that there is enmity (ἔχθρα) among them?

Socr. But what is the disagreement (διάφορος) which causes enmity (ἔχθρα) and anger

 What differences (διαφέρω) are there which cannot be decided (κρίσις), and which can (δύναμαι) make us angry (ὀργίζω) and set us at enmity (ἐχθρός) with one another?

Is it not about just (δίκαιος) and unjust (ἄδικος), and beautiful (καλός) and ugly (αἰσχρός), and good (ἀγαθός) and bad (κακός)?

Are not these the things, we disagree (διαφέρω) and cannot reach a decision (κρίσις), so becoming enemies (ἐχθρός), when we become enemies — you, and I, and all other men?

The problem of holiness

Is the holy (ὅσιον) because it is holy loved (φιλεῖται) by the gods (Θεῶν), or is it holy because loved by the gods?

Rakastavatko jumalat hurskasta siksi että se on hurskasta, vai onko se hurskasta siksi että jumalat rakastavat sitä?

Then that what is loved (φιλεῖσθαι) [by the Gods] is not same as holy and holy is not same that is loved [by the Gods], but differ one from the other.
